The 2nd Stake Youth Fireside was held at 4:00 PM, yesterday, March 10th at Buendia Chapel where the youth, their leaders, parents, and guardians or ministering brothers and sisters were in attendance. The stake tackled one of the most sensitive yet evident problems that not only the youth, but as well as the adults, are facing.
Bro Kristian Arzaga conducted the fireside and started off with a headcount. The opening hymn was conducted by Sis Joice Velasco and was accompanied by Bro Joshua Arzaga. The invocation was offered by Jessica Sollestre of Makati 3rd.
First to speak was Bro. Bernard Pilapil who described addiction as a disease. He discussed how addiction starts and develops if left unaddressed. He then reminded the youth that Satan works through deception to destroy our communication with our Heavenly Father. He was followed by President Stephen Notarte who warned the youth about the three underlying influences: our words, thoughts and deeds. He urged them to remember the phrase, “I will give place no more to the enemy of my soul.” He also gave instructions as to what to do in overcoming the pornography habit, which is to seek inspiration, identify triggers and establish barriers, respond to setbacks and adversity, identify courses of actions and that to be patient with the progress. President Peter Ballados then reminded the parents about their primary responsibility in the guidance of their children and that leaders are only there for support. He urged everyone to engage in the twenty-minute to challenge: a personal and family prayer and a twenty-minute scripture study thrice a day. President Ferdinand Arzaga then concluded the meeting with the emphasis of letting the obscene remain unseen and to stop any form of addiction at this very moment.
President Arzaga then instructed everyone to stand up while singing Hope of Israel and the benediction was given by Jasper as requested by the Stake.
